Denis L. Hayhurst, 76, of Butler, PA, formerly of Kittanning, PA, passed away on Monday, July 7, 2025 at Butler Memorial Hospital in Butler, PA. He was born August 28, 1948 in Lumberport, West Virginia. He resided in Kittanning for many years, and most recently in Butler at the Butler VA Hospital Community Living Center where he will be deeply missed. He was preceded in death by his parents and numerous siblings. He is survived by a special niece, Sherry Poil, and other nieces and nephews. Denis was honorably discharged from the Army and had a deep concern for his fellow veterans. Denis loved "Hershey Bars" and the outdoors. He also enjoyed BINGO, watching wrestling and Westerns, country music, especially religious melodies, and reading his Bible. He wrote a lot of poetry. One of his written poems to share...."Sometimes my stupid poems put my sanity in doubt, in closing, just got to say that to you, I hope and pray God will protect you and your family too". Denis will be returning home to West Virginia for interment on July 16, 2025 at 1 p.m. at West Virginia National Cemetery, Grafton, WV with full military graveside honors being conducted.
