Dixie Rupert Obituary

Dixie Louise (Heigley) Rupert, of Kittanning, PA, passed away at AHN on August 29, 2025 after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s.  She was born May 27, 1942, in Kittanning, PA to Marie (Reighert) Heigley and James Elmer Heigley.  She was a loving sister and devoted to her sons Michael and Brian (Jennifer) Rupert.  Dixie enjoyed her career as an administrative assistant with continuous employment for over 50 years, including volunteer work through the Kittanning Junior Women’s Club and Progressive Workshop of Armstrong County.  Dixie loved everything and everyone around her, and everyone loved Dixie.  It’s clear that she chose to live her life with the utmost dignity and consideration for others.  Dixie enjoyed friends, family, and activities with her church.  In addition to her sons, she is survived by her two sisters, Karen (Heigley) Schrecengost (Bill), Terri (Heigley) Brumbaugh; two brothers, James Heigley (Linda) and Wendell Heigley; and niece, Terra Johnson, as well as many other nieces, nephews and grandchildren.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved sister, Stevie Heigley.  Family and friends will be received from 12-2 p.m. on Thursday, September 4th, 2025 at Kennedy & Blodgett Funeral Home, 253 N. Grant Ave., Kittanning, PA 16201 with funeral service to immediately follow at 2 p.m. with Pastor Robert Grimm officiating.  Interment will be at Mateer Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association and the Kittanning Church of God.
