Donald Leroy Atkinson

Donald Leroy Atkinson, 90 of Cowansville PA, passed away at his residence on Tuesday August 17, 2021. He was born in West Winfield on February 13, 1931 to the late Lewis Leroy and Hazel G. (Carson) Atkinson. Donald graduated from New Kensington High School, in 1950. He served as a Corporal in the United States Army during the Korean War, followed by service in the Army Reserve.  He was a member of Saint Mark's Lutheran Church of Adrian, a member of the American Legion and the Model T Ford Club. He enjoyed showing his Model T’s in car shows and cruises. Donald was a career truck driver. After retiring from Allegheny Ludlum Steel of Brackenridge he continued to show his Model T's, gardening and enjoyed spending time with his family, friends and his beloved pets. He is survived by Daughters: Janet (Mark) Talerico of Kittanning, Joyce Davis of Pittsburgh, Jenny Atkinson of Pittsburgh, 7 grandchildren, nieces, nephews and lifelong friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Arlene D. Atkinson of 65 years. Brother Jack R. Atkinson Sr, Sisters Carole L. Lipterz, Patricia L. Olbeter,  Kay E. Semonia and a son-in-law, Rodney E. Davis. Services were held at the Snyder-Crissman Funeral Home with the Rev. Matthew Vatalare officiating. A 21 Gun Salute was provided by the American Legion at his gravesite. Internment is at the Center Hill Church of the Brethren Cemetery.
