Donald James Atwood, 85, of Kittanning, passed away Wednesday, July 2, 2025 at his residence surrounded by his loved ones. He was the son of Frank William Atwood and Anna Rea (Emminger) Atwood. He graduated in 1958 from Kittanning High School and then entered the workforce. He had several jobs including Miller Buick Garage, Dykes Automotive and Pullman Standard until it's closing in 1982. Shortly afterwards he tried his hand at owning his own business and was part owner of The Inn. During the time, he made many new lifelong friends and eventually went on to bigger and better things and bought his own bar/restaurant in Ford Cliff- Cliffside Inn. In time, Don sold that business and relocated to the Sigel area where he enjoyed camping and working at Brookville Glove Factory.
In 2002, he met the love of his life, Luann. They created a wonderful life together and bought a camp of their own called The Rainey Place. The family made many memories there which will be cherished forever.
Don was a huge sports fan. He and his friends would sit and watch sports for hours. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping.
Don was an active member of Hose Company #4 in the 1960's and then became an honorary member. He was a former member of the Pattonville VFW, Latin American Club, Kittanning Eagles, Kittanning Men's Club, Fireman's Club in Brookville, Brookville Eagle's, and the Heath Township Sportsman's Club.
Don is survived by his fiancé Luann Croyle and their loving dog Muffie; sons, Donny and wife, Lisa, of Cowansville and Terry and wife, Lori, of York, Pa.; daughter, Sharon Clark, of Willowick, Ohio; brother, Greg Atwood and wife, Joyce, of Mansfield, Ohio; sister, Carol Stanley and her husband, Dan, of East Liverpool, Ohio; sister-in-laws Zelma, Judy, Phyllis, and Judy; and numerous nieces and nephews; and last but not least Don had 6 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Anna Rea Atwood; and brothers, Frankie, Larry (Chaz), Rob, Mike, Bill, Joe and Jack.
Donald James will be remembered by many and missed by all.
Friends will be received from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Monday, July 7, 2025 at the SNYDER-CRISSMAN FUNERAL HOME, 200 S. McKean St., Kittanning. FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE HELD AT OUR KENNEDY & BLODGETT FUNERAL HOME LOCATION AT 253 N. GRANT AVE., KITTANNING ON TUESDAY, JULY 8, AT 11 A.M. with an hour of visitation prior to the service.
