Donald Samuel Calhoun

Donald Samuel Calhoun, 85 of Kittanning, passed away Saturday, April 23, 2022 at home on the family farm. He was born February 19, 1937 at home to the late Samuel L. and Lucia Melba Calhoun. Don lived in the area all his life and resided on his family’s homestead which has been in the family for 216 years. He retired from the United Parcel Service after 33 years of service. He was a U.S Army veteran serving from 1956-1958. Don was a member of Faith Cathedral in Kittanning. He was also a member of the Wild Turkey Federation, Pine Creek Sportsman Club, and Special Friends Youth Program. He liked hunting, especially in the mid West, antique tractors, and watching his grandchildren and great- grandchildren, sporting events, and going on cruises. 

He is survived by his wife of 63 years Leona B. (Grafton) Calhoun of Kittanning; daughter Sherri (Jay) Green of Worthington; son Gregory (Lisa) Calhoun of Kittanning; daughter Michelle (Jarid) Huth of Kittanning; grandchildren Erica (Kyle) Kirkpatrick, Evan Calhoun, Alecia (Dustin) Toy, Nicholas Huth and fiancé Mariah Kephart, and Jarah Huth; great grandchildren Emma Kirkpatrick and Landon Kirkpatrick; brother Lee Calhoun of Diamond, Ohio.

Don was preceded in death by his parents Samuel and Melba (Schrecengost) Calhoun; sisters June Calhoun and Jean Williams; father and mother in law Ralph and Thelma Grafton; brother and sister in laws Kenneth and Gloria Walker, Ralph and Helen Grafton Jr., Joseph Walter Grafton, Virginia and Harold Shaffer, Sarah and Larry Crytzer, Melvin Grafton, and Beverly (Charles) Grafton. 

Friends will be received on Tuesday, April 26, 2022 at the Snyder-Crissman Funeral Home in Kittanning from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 pm. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday April 27, 2022 at Faith Cathedral with additional visitation at the church from 10:00 am until the time of the service with Pastor Neal Reedy officiating. Interment is in the Center Hill Brethren Church Cemetery.
