Donald Norton Obituary

Donald Blair Norton, 94, of Kittanning, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 8, 2024. He was born December 25, 1929 in West Kittanning to Blair and Ethel (Snyder) Norton. He was the last surviving member of his family.

He graduated from Kittanning High School class of 1947. He was a member of the Vision Hill First Church OF God. Don was retired from Eljer Co. in Ford City with 37 years of service. He served in the U.S. Army from 1948-1951 during the Korean War. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post 863 and the American Legion Post 0828. Don was a past active and present honorary member of the West Kittanning Fire Department. He served on the board of the Kittanning Suburban Joint Water Authority for 44 years. 

He enjoyed playing golf and watching the Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers on TV. He was an outstanding baseball pitcher. He received an invitation from the Pittsburgh Pirates to go to Brunswick, Georgia for spring tryouts in 1954. Don was a loving husband and father and took his family on wonderful vacations. 

He is survived by his wife of 70 happy years, Donna J. (Zellefrow) Norton; three daughters Paula J. (Alan) Manfredi, Lisa K. Spencer, and Carol J. (Troy) Buzzo; four grandghildren Carrera (Kurt) Reinheimer, Shelly K. Spencer, Nathan A. Manfredi, and Emily J. (Matthew) Kane; one great-granddaughter Teagan Esposito; nieces and nephews. 

Don was proceeded in death by his parents; son Larry Blair; two infant brothers Ray and George; brother Carl; sister Jean Bowser; brother in law Calvin Bowser 

Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, March 13, 2024 at Snyder-Crissman Funeral Home in Kittanning from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Additional visitation will be held at Vision Hill First Church of God on Thursday March 14, 2024 from 12:00 pm until the time of services at 1:00 pm. With Pastor Nick Wilson and Pastor Gale Winning officiating. Burial is in Lawn Haven Burial Estates in Worthington.
