In Loving Memory of Doris Marie Cousins
1933-2025
Doris Marie Cousins, 91, of Kittanning passed away peacefully on Saturday April 5, 2025, at Sugar Creek Rest Home surrounded by family. Born in Ford City Pa, November 9th, 1933, she was the cherished daughter of the late Anthony Joseph and Dale Elizabeth (Iseman) Thiry. Doris graduated from Ford City High School in 1951. She had a strong passion for music and the outdoors. Known for her garden and flowerbeds, Doris found joy in tending to her yard and spending time outside. Her other hobbies included square dancing, playing cards, writing, painting, baking, and playing the piano. For many years she was the church pianist at Victory Baptist Church. She was a devout Christian who touched the lives of many with her kindness and generosity. Above all else, Doris loved providing for her family.
Her passion for helping others led her to the local hospital. There, she was introduced to her future mother-in-law Aida Cousins. Through this introduction, she began penning letters to William H. Cousins while he was deployed to Korea. Upon his return, their relationship blossomed, and they were happily married months later. She and William spent over 50 blissful years together before his passing in 2005. Together, they had five sons whom they loved dearly.
She is survived by her son, Barry (Sue) Cousins. She was also a loving and devoted mother to the late W. Anthony Cousins, William (Debra) Cousins, Randy Cousins, and Ronald (Gina) Cousins. Her nurturing spirit extended to her role as a grandmother to Dana Shaner (Cousins), Amanda Rayer, Levi (Shannon) Sappe, and Dallas (Kathryn) Cousins. She was blessed with 12 great grandchildren, and one great-great granddaughter. Doris also treasured her many nieces and nephews. As the youngest of 6, Doris was proceeded in death by James (Lois) Thiry, Donald (Ginger) Thiry, Edith (Perry) Bracken, and Robert (Anna Marie) Thiry. Her spirit will live on through her older sister Ruth Smith (Thiry).
Friends and family will be received Thursday April 10th from 6-8pm at the Snyder-Crissman Funeral Home, 200 S. McKean St., Kittanning. A memorial service will be held on Friday April 11th at 11am at the First Baptist Church, 334 Arch St.,Kittanning, Pa. with a viewing prior to the service beginning at 10am, to celebrate Doris's life and legacy.
