Doris Jean (Emery) Mechling

Doris Jean (Emery) Mechling, 87, of Kittanning, died on Monday, May 29, 2023 at Heritage Meadows Personal Care Home. She was born September 9, 1935 in Kittanning, the daughter of the late Robert L. and Mary Belle (Myers) Emery, and was a lifelong resident of the community. Doris enjoyed attending First Church of God and reading her bible. She also enjoyed taking walks, doing puzzles and spending time with her family. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughters, Kathie (Brett) Cloak and Leslie Mechling (Dan), both of Kittanning; granddaughters, Bethany (Jeff) Algayer, of Hatfield, PA and Kelly (Alvin) Marquis, of Gilbertsville, PA; great-granddaughters, Phoebe and Piper Algayer and Skyla Marquis; sister, Judith (Ray) Drake, of Hendersonville, Tenn.; close family friend, Amy Lester, of Arnold, PA; and sister-in-law, Peggy Calano, of Kittanning. In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, James B. Mechling; oldest daughter, Kimberly M. Simmons; brother, Harvey (Bus) Emery; sister, Bonnie Dosch; sisters-in-law, Nellie Cogley, Lois Hill, Salome Sheasley and Maud Crawford; and brother-in-law, Kelly Mechling. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Heritage Meadows staff and Amedisys Hospice nurses for the wonderful care Doris received. Friends will be received from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, June 1, 2023 at Kennedy & Blodgett Funeral Home, 253 N. Grant Ave., Kittanning, PA. Additional visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday, June 2, from 10 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11 a.m. with Pastor Nick Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in Kittanning Cemetery.
