Dorothy E. Cornish

Dorothy E. Cornish, age 97, of Kittanning died on Wednesday, December 22, at Armstrong County Memorial Hospital. She was born June 2, 1924 in South Bethlehem, a daughter of Jacob and Ruth (Procious) Shaffer. She was married to Clarence (Hap) Cornish on October 2, 1948. Dorothy graduated from New Bethlehem High School. She retired from the Department of Public Assistance after 18 years of service. She had previously worked at the First National Bank in New Bethlehem. Mrs. Cornish was a member of the Union Avenue Methodist Church, 1 50 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star #277 in Kittanning and a past member of the Armstrong County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. She enjoyed camping, traveling, reading, dancing and quilting. 

She is survived by one daughter, Barbara Kimmel and husband Alfred, of Shelocta, and two sons, Rodger Cornish and wife Betty of Bethlehem and David Cornish and friend Charlotte Wells of Kittanning and six grandchildren and three great grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Clarence “Hap” Cornish in February 2021, one sister Emogene Corman and two brothers, Kenneth and Jack Shaffer. 

Family and friends will be received on Monday, December 27, 2021 in the Kennedy & Blodgett Funeral Home, 253 North Grant Ave., Kittanning, Pa from 10:00am until time of funeral services at 1:30pm with her son in law Alfred Kimmel officiating. Burial will follow in Lawn Haven Burial Estates, Worthington, PA
