Dr. Jay Paul, 76, of Worthington died on Tuesday July 26, 2022 in UPMC Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA.
He was born on July 31, 1945 in Philadelphia, PA to the late Samuel and Beatrice Paul.
Jay was a member of the Public Health Service Corp. He attended Penn State University – College of Medicine at Hershey Medical Center and earned his Doctorate in Medicine, representing the first “Pioneer Class” of the program. He went on to obtain his Internal Medicine and Pulmonary Specialties at Allegheny General Hospital. He established Critical Care Associates in Butler, PA in 1979 acting as president. His Career was spent at Armstrong County Memorial Hospital and Butler Memorial Hospital as a practicing pulmonologist and critical care specialist, until his retirement in 2007.
Jay enjoyed photography, woodworking, was an avid reader, pod cast enthusiast, gardening, keeping up with the latest technology, and most of all he appreciated the fine food and never met a pie he didn’t like.
Left behind to forever cherish his memory is his wife, Karen Paul of Worthington; daughter, Sallie Metelsky and husband George of Valencia, PA, daughter, Erin Bartell and husband Chris of Shaler, PA, granddaughter, Myra Bartell of Shaler , grandson, Niklaus Bartell of Shaler, Mother-In-Law, Marie Stuchell of Cowansville, and Linda Paul of Valencia, PA and his 3 furry friends, Maria, Einstein, and Squeaks.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Per Jay’s wishes there will be no viewing or services at this time. The Snyder-Crissman Funeral Home in Kittanning is assisting the family with their arrangements.
