Dr. O.G. Bowser, DMD Obituary

Orlo G. “Bud” Bowser, DMD, 86, of Cowansville, Pa. died on Monday, November 11, 2024, his birthday, at QLS Sugarcreek after a courageous battle with multiple myeloma.  He was born Nov. 11, 1938 in Ford City, Pa., the son of the late Orlo M. Bowser and Ruth (McGuire) Bowser, and was a lifelong resident of the area.  He graduated from Ford City High School, class of 1956.   Bud then went on to graduate from the University of Pittsburgh with Bachelor of Science and Univ. of Pittsburgh School of Dentistry in 1963.  Upon graduation in June of 1963, he established his own practice.  During his practice, he made several mission trips with The Flying Dentists Association to Honduras and Guatemala.  In addition to his mission trips, he traveled extensively throughout the U.S.  Bud retired after 51 years of practicing dentistry.  He was a member of the Union First Presbyterian Church in Cowansville, where he was a former elder.  His other memberships included Elks Lodge 203, Seneca-Masonic Lodge 805, Scottish Rite, New Castle Consistory and he was a lifetime member of the NRA.  He enjoyed numerous hunting and fishing expeditions, especially with his college friend, Bill Grassell.  He loved to garden, mow the lawn and travel.  He was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan, enjoying Pitt, Steelers and Pirates games.  

Survivors include his wife, Marvene (Snyder) Bowser, of Cowansville; special cousin, Paul Rearick; and nieces, Becky Williams, Amy Blakney and Tracey Thomaswick.  In addition to his parents, Bud was preceded in death by his sisters, Dr. Marilen Bowser, Ida (Sally) Bowser and Norma Jean Dougherty; newphews, John Kester and Eric Kester; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Duane and Nancy Snyder; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Walter and Lucille Snyder.  

Visitation and funeral services will be privately held by the family with Rev. Dennis Molnar officiating at the Snyder-Crissman Funeral Home in Cowansville, Pa.  Entombment will be in the mausoleum at Lawn Haven Burial Estates.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Orphans of the Storm, P.O. Box 838, Kittanning, Pa. 16201 or Union First Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 217, Cowansville, Pa. 16218.
