Edna Lardin Obituary

Edna Marie Lardin, 94, of Kittanning passed away on Sunday May 31, 2020 in Grey’s Colonial Manor, where she had been residing for the last 1 ½ years.  She was born on June 29, 1925 in Arnold, PA to the late Ben J. & Lucille (McCollum) Cook.  Edna lived in the local area for over 70 years. S he was a member of North Buffalo Grace Brethren Church.  She enjoyed attending services and senior activities when she was able to go.  Before marrying John H. Lardin on June 29, 1948, she worked for the Allegheny River Mining where she operated the tipple which loaded coal on trucks and into railcars during WWII.  From there she worked at the General Store in Cadogan.  It was during this time she met her future husband.  In her younger years, Edna enjoyed cooking and baking.  She was well known for her buns and bread.  She always baked dozens of cookies for the holidays.  She enjoyed being a wife and mother.  Later in life her hobbies included reading her bible, watching TV game shows, and doing word search puzzles.

Left behind to cherish her memory is her son, Ronald H. Lardin and wife, Sue, of Ford City; and 2 brothers, Bob Cook and wife, Sallie, of Kersey, PA and Bill Cook, of Cabool, MO.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Hess Lardin, whom she married June 29, 1948 and who passed away on March 10, 2003; sisters, Betty Girocco and Doris Stockdill; and her brother, Ben Cook.

Per Edna’s wishes, a private viewing and service was held in the Snyder-Crissman Funeral Home, 200 South McKean Street, Kittanning, PA 16201 with her church pastor the Rev. Jim Rose officiating.  Burial followed in Cowen Cemetery, Kittanning, PA.
