Edward R. Bono, 78, of Indiana, PA passed away Sunday, June 2, 2024 at his home after a long, courageous battle with numerous health issues. He was born October 28, 1945 in Armstrong County, the son of the late Rocco and Twila Bono. He resided in Indiana, Pa. for the past 28 years. He was retired from Moonlight Mushrooms, working in the sales department, and he retired as a Lieutenant Col. in the U.S. Army Reserves. Edward also served in the U.S. Army National Guard, spending time in units in Ford City, Butler, Clarion and Indiana. He attended many Army schools and had many Army commendations throughout his career. Edward attended St. Thomas More University Parish in Indiana. He belonged to the American Legion, Buffalo Valley and Keystone Sportsmen’s Club. Edward enjoyed golfing, fishing and spending time with his many grandchildren.
He leaves behind to forever cherish his memory, his wife of 56 years, Dianne (Long) Bono, of Indiana; his children, Lori (Brad) Shields, of Indiana, Pa., Mark (Cathy) Bono, of Worthington, Pa. and Stacy (Ben) Bono, of Kittanning, Pa.; brother, Herman (Peg) Bono, of Mars, Pa.; sister-in-law, Shirley Bono, of Kittanning, Pa.; and 9 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, James R. Bono.
A funeral mass will be held at a later date at St. Thomas More University Parish in Indiana, Pa. Interment will be in Lawn Haven Burial Estates, Worthington, Pa.
