Edward Jesse Fleming, 80, passed away peacefully at home on April 6, 2024, surrounded by family after a hard-fought battle against Multiple Myeloma. He was born in Elderton, PA in 1944 and his love for and connection to the Armstrong and Indiana county communities remained his entire life. He was a member of the Elks, the Masonic Lodge and the Syria Shrine. He had an entrepreneurial spirit and founded his own medical supply company early in his career. He was the ultimate salesman and his belief in hard work and persistence allowed him to achieve success throughout his working life.
Ed loved playing golf with his friends at Valley Brook Country Club where he was a 40-year member and was passionate about hunting at the Ripper Springs Hunting Camp where he was a 50-year member; however, his favorite past time was watching his grandsons play baseball and football. He was affectionately known as Pop Pop to his two grandchildren, and he was their biggest fan.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Lois Jean and their son, Tim Fleming married to Cindi (Martin); his two grandsons, Sam Fleming married to Larkin (Schultz) and Jack Fleming along with numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thyra and Jesse Fleming and his brother, Harold Doine Fleming and his wife Ruth Skinner Fleming.
A graveside service for the immediate family will be held on April 10, 2024, at Elderton Cemetery. A Celebration of Life is planned at Valley Brook Country Club in McMurray, PA at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Concordia Lutheran Ministries Hospice at concordialm.org or City Mission Hope for the Homeless at citymission.org.
