Edward Charles Golla

Edward Charles Golla, 89, of Kittanning, died on Tuesday June 1, 2021 in Butler Memorial Hospital. He was born on September 5, 1931 in Kittanning to the late Adolph & Adella (Riccadonna) Golla. 

He was a member of St. Mary Our Lady Of Guadalupe Roman Catholic Church. 

Ed (also know as Eddie) lived in Kittanning all his life, either at home, or in Evergreen Group Home, where he enjoyed time with the staff and his dear brother and best friend Leno, who sadly passed away earlier this year in February. 

Ed had fond memories of helping his father Adolph and his uncle Fred at the Golla Beer Distributorship. Ed loved working at the Progressive Workshop of Armstrong County where he had many friends and various jobs including janitorial work for the PA State Police. In 1986 Ed was the first recipient of the “Handicapped Worker of the Year” award by the Pennsylvania Industries for the Blind and Handicapped, presented at a banquet in Harrisburg where many friends and family attended. Ed was friendly and sociable and well know in the Kittanning community. He enjoyed taking walks, bowling, competing in the Special Olympics, and visiting family. He was always happy to travel, along with his brother Leno, on many trips with the Exceptional Travels organization, going to Steelers and Pirates games, Disney World, a Caribbean Cruise and other places. Ed will be missed by friends and family. Ed was adored by many nieces and nephews and always enjoyed sharing holidays together. 

Left behind to cherish his memory is his sister; Virginia (Louis) Zabinski of East Vandergrift, and his brother; Joseph (Carol) Golla of Media, PA. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews. 

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother Leno Golla. 

Family and friends of Edward “Eddie” Golla will be received on Wednesday June 9, 2021 in the Kennedy & Blodgett Funeral Home, 253 North Grant Ave., Kittanning, Pa from 12:00 – 1:30pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 2:00pm in the St. Mary Our Lady of Guadalupe Roman Catholic Church with Rev. Ronald Maquinana officiating. He will then be laid to rest in St. Joseph Cemetery, beside his parents & brother Leno.
