Edward George Hoffman, 88, of East Brady, passed away Friday November 28, 2025 at Quality Life Services – Sugarcreek. He was born May 30, 1937 in Sugarcreek Township to the late George and Margaret (Nunemaker) Hoffman.
He proudly served in the United States Navy from June 1955 until his retirement in April 1974. During his 20 years of service, he exemplified commitment, honor, and resilience traits that continued to guide him throughout his life. After retiring from the Navy, he began a second career at Penreco, where he worked with the same commitment and reliability that defined his military career.
Edward was a member of the Montgomeryville Baptist Church and he attended St. Paul’s Church for the past few years. Ed served as a volunteer fireman at the Sugarcreek Township Volunteer Fire Department in his younger years.
Outside of work he was a true outdoorsman with a passion for hunting, especially with his brother Jim and brother-in-law Larry, making many trips to Alaska, yielding him a large Moose and elk rack, which he proudly displayed. In his earlier years, he spent many happy evenings with his wife square dancing, and was a member of the Alamo Squares.
Edward is survived by his wife Mary Irene (Frick) Hoffman of East Brady; two daughters Sherry Hoffman of Saratoga Springs, New York and Karen Wallace of Livermore, California;; 7 grandchildren Joseph (Diana) Juracka, Clinton (Gabriella) Juracka, and Adriane (Maxwell) Lienau all of New York, Patrick (Abby) Tack, Levi (Jessica) Tack, and Lydia Tack all of Pennsylvania, Mackenzie Wallace of Livermore, California; 5 great-grandchildren Amelia and Carolyn Juracka, Isla Juracka, Josephine Tack, and Everly Lienau; brother James Hoffman of Baden, PA; sister-in-law Yetta Getty of Ford City, PA.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Cheryl Tack and her husband Andrew Tack; parents George and Margaret “Rudy” (Nunemaker) Hoffman; mother and father in laws James and Margaret Frick; four sisters Lois Redmond, Della Whitelock, Nancy Ritchie, and Alene Texter.
Friends will be received on Thursday December 4, 2025 at the Snyder-Crissman Funeral Home in Cowansville from 2:00 to 5:30 P.M. A funeral service will be held on Friday December 5, 2025 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Paul’s Community Church, 2167 State Route 268, Chicora, PA 16025. With Rev. Frank Sapp Jr. officiating. Interment is in the Montgomeryville Baptist Church Cemetery in Adrian.
