Eleanor L. (Abercrombie) Hooks, 87, of Kittanning, passed away Friday July 18, 2025 at ACMH Hospital. She was born October 17, 1937 in Charleston, West Virginia to the late Clinton Kenneth and Emily (Cross) Abercrombie.
Eleanor worked throughout her life as a tray girl at ACMH Hospital, the Armstrong School District as a janitor, at McDonald's and in the Toy's Golden Dawn Bakery. She was also a homemaker who loved her children and nieces and nephews. She loved her life and enjoyed her home and gardening. Eleanor also enjoyed embroidery, planting flowers, baking, casino trips, traveling and vacations, painting ceramics, making homemade spaghetti sauce and homemade jelly, and quilting; she has made 9 quilts.
She is survived by her daughter Cindy L. Hooks and son Thomas N. Hooks Jr. both of Kittanning. Several nieces and nephews.
Eleanor was preceded in death bye her husband Thomas N. Hooks Sr. and two brothers and sister-in-laws Ken (Doris) Abercrombie and David (Marie) Abercrombie.
Friends will be received on Wednesday July 23, 2025 at the Snyder-Crissman Funeral Home in Kittanning from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. A funeral service will held on Thursday July 24, 2025 in the funeral home at 11:00 A.M. with her nephew Rev. Raymond Cooper officiating. Additional visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service. Interment is in Lawn Haven Burial Estates in Worthington. The family requests that anyone bringing food please take it to the Belmont Complex.
