Elizabeth (Libby) Booher Recupero, age 88, of West Kittanning, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family. She was born on January 31, 1937, in Pine Hill, to Lucy and Richard E. Booher. She graduated from East Brady High School in 1954 and went on to live a life centered on family, faith, friendship, and service to others. Throughout her life, she worked in many roles and was known for her strong work ethic and warm personality. Her employment included positions with West Penn Power in Reesedale, working as a telephone operator; the D.T. Randall Company and Lawyers Title Service in Detroit, where she worked alongside her dear friend Gail Brown Sheehan; Murphy’s Mart; the Kittanning Post Office as a rural carrier; Barker Bus as an aide; and Divine Redeemer School, where she served as a librarian. Later in life, she also worked with her daughter and son-in-law at Vic & Nicalena’s Wood Fired Pizza catering, something she greatly enjoyed. She was an active member of the Roy Frick Booher American Legion Auxiliary in Cowansville, where she helped with events, and belonged to the Catholic Daughters of the Americas and the Red Hats. She was also a proud member of the St. Mary Church Choir, combining her faith with her love of music. Libby is survived by her children - Nicalena (Victor) Carlesi, Joseph (Fran) Recupero, Jolene (Tom) McIlwain. Grandchildren: Antina Carlesi, Melina (Abdallah) Naddaf, Cea (Samantha) Carlesi, Victor Carlesi, David (Megan) DeVivo, Joseph Recupero III, Liam McIlwain, Sofya Recupero. Great Grandchildren: Lilly Naddaf, Evalina DeVivo, Rafael Naddaf, Joseph DeVivo. A sister, Margaret (Peggy) Recupero, Sisters-in-law Nancy Booher and Genevieve Fox and Brother-in-law Angelo Recupero and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joseph Recupero, who passed in 2017, as well as her parents, Lucy and Richard Booher, and her siblings: Roy Booher, David Booher, Richard Booher, Muriel Trulick, and Helen Merwin. She was truly a friend to all and loved people deeply. Family was always her top priority. She was known for her joy, constant smile, and the way she made everyone feel special—always directing conversation so each person felt seen and valued. Her conversations were lively, filled with laughter, and often unforgettable. She loved cooking, especially her famous spaghetti sauce, which she shared with only a select few. She made the best fried trout and cherished floating streams and fishing with her son at camp. She enjoyed music, was a great whistler, loved making lists, decorating cakes, and was always asking for a good movie or series recommendation. She also valued community and support, attending a stroke support group during her husband’s illness. She was fun to be around, endlessly kind, and always smiling—someone who left people better than she found them. Her legacy of love, laughter, and faith will live on in all who knew her. Friends will be received on Sunday, January 11, 2026 from 2-4 p.m. & 6-8 p.m. at the Snyder-Crissman Funeral Home, 200 S. McKean St., Kittanning.  Additional visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday, January 12, from 9:30 a.m. until time of Parting Prayers at 11 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:30 a.m. at St Mary, Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Kittanning. Interment will be in Lawn Haven Burial Estates, Worthington, Pa.
