Elmer Henry Simmers, 87, of Worthington, passed away on Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at his home. He was born January 31, 1934 in Worthington to the late William and Olive Ruth Simmers and was a lifelong resident of the area. Elmer was a retired coal miner. He was a member of Victory Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time at camp.
Left behind to cherish his memory includes his wife, Edith (Goldinger) Simmers, of Worthington; daughter, Pam (Ray) Schwickrath, of Worthington; son, Ed (Lorri) Simmers, of Worthington; grandchildren, Tracy (PJ) Wrigley, Raymond Schwickrath, Trista Simmers, Drew Simmers, and Sean Turley; great-grandchildren, Layla Schwickrath, Addyson and Zachary Wrigley, and Kiya Lee Skiles; niece, Vick Toy and several more nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Melissa Turley; brothers, Robert and Walter Simmers; and sisters, Vera Simmers and Dorothy Cravener.
Funeral services will be privately held by the family at the funeral home on Saturday with Pastor Ray Boltz officiating. Interment will be in Lawn Haven Burial Estates. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Elmer’s honor to Victory Baptist Church, 295 Pleasant View Dr., Kittanning, Pa 16201.
