It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our mother, Eva J. Lasher, 83, on April 27, 2025. She was born June 4, 1941 in Blairsville, Pa. to Earl Dewey and Esther McAfoos. Survivors include her daughters, Theresa and Ron Truitt, of Fairmount City, Lisa Strawser, of Rural Valley and Greg and Bobbi Jo Mikeska, of Kittanning. She worked at the Jamesway cafeteria, Big River and in the catering business. She loved flowers and had a huge flower garden. Eva liked to cook and bake, especially cookies. She baked for ladies at the hospital for Christmas every year. She always made cabbage rolls and big dinners for her family and others. She enjoyed watching ice skating on TV. She liked to bowl and enjoyed her grandkids when they'd stay over at her house. Her grandchildren include: Amy (Matt) Hawk, of Kittanning, Jessica (Adam) Krug, of Brockway, Erika (Tom) Wise, of Kittanning, Marissa Kirkland, of Ford City, Nathan and Catherine Mikeska, of Summersville, SC, Nicole Mikeska, of Kittanning and Natasha (Scott) Stewart, of Kittanning; and great-grandchildren: Madison and Myliea Anderson, Alex Shaffer, Cameron and Chelyce Wiles, Alex and Bella Campbell, Josie Kidder, Ella Dykes, RJ Kirkland, Easton Dykes, Everlee Krug, Elianna and Grexton Mikeska and Angelina Hays. Also surviving are her siblings, Dave (Darleen) McAfoos, Pete (Patty) McAfoos, Mary Shenk and Alice Lynn; sister-in-law, Evalene Lasher; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Eva was preceded in death by her sister, Patricia Henry; and brother, Ira McAfoos.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Life Services of Kittanning and the nurses and doctors at ACMH Hospital for their great care and friendship, as well as Rural Vally Ambulance Service and Ford City Ambulance Service.
