Evelyn Jean (Burford) Adams, 94 of Kittanning, passed away Sept 6, 2023 at The Ridge at Heritage Meadows in Ford City. Evelyn was born February 12, 1929 in Furnace Run to Ray and Carrie (Wilson) Burford. She married Donald Adams on July 25, 1951 and he preceded her in death on February 2, 1992. Evelyn worked for 31 years as a school bus driver for Clepper Brothers and Valley Lines. Evelyn was the mother of and is survived by Mark (Gail) Adams and Marsha (Matt) Smith, all of Kittanning, the grandmother of Megan Adams of Natrona Heights and Matthew (Rachel) Smith of Kittanning, and great-grandmother of Eva Smith. She is also survived by her sister, Carol Bowser of Kittanning, special cousin Glenn Wilson and family of Beaver Falls, and nieces and nephews: Debbie, Jack, Danny, Mindy, Bonnie, Ronda, Krissy, Tim, Sheryl, Greg, and Dan. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, beloved siblings Mildred Davenport and Earl Burford, sisters-in-law Barbara Allshouse and Shirley Wiles, and niece Brenda Pompelia.
Evelyn was well-known for her tough but loving demeanor and, above all, her love for Boston Terriers. Over her life she owned and loved 8 BTs: Becky, Pepper, Skipper, Penny, Misty, Burt, Molly and Abby. In her younger years she was an accomplished crochet artist, enjoyed camping, and has been a lifelong fan of country music from the 50s, 60s, and 70s. She thought there were no greater actors than John Wayne and Tom Hanks. She never cared for Frank Sinatra and would loudly tell you all of the reasons why. It was tough to make Evelyn truly laugh, but when you did, you’d feel like a million bucks. She loved her family more than anything and they’ll miss her forever.
The family would like to thank the staff at The Ridge at Heritage Meadows for their kindness, friendship, and care over the past year.
