Gertrude (Specht) Cothery, 94, of Widnoon, died on Wednesday December 6, 2023 in Premier Rehab & Nursing Center, Kittanning, PA.  She was born December 28, 1928 in S. Huntingdon Twp., Westmoreland County to the late Otto & Martha Specht.  Gertrude was a Bell Telephone Operator then a homemaker.  She was a member of the Tidal Presbyterian Church and she enjoyed bowling, crocheting, knitting & puzzles.

She is survived by her daughter, Karen (Tim) Medice of Kittanning; son, Keith (Phyllis) Shoemaker of Greensboro, GA; grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Cothery; daughter, Carol Traxler; and son, Harry Kenneth Shoemaker.

Family and friends will be received on Friday, December 8, 2023 in the Kennedy & Blodgett Funeral Home, 253 North Grant, Kittanning, PA 16201 from 2:00-4:00pm & 6:00-8:00pm. Additional viewing will be held on Saturday December 9, 2023 in the Tidal Presbyterian Church, 567 Madison Road, Templeton, PA 16259 from 1:00pm until time of services at 2:00pm with Rev. Joel Kinnard officiating.  Burial will be in Tidal Union Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Tidal Presbyterian Church c/o Gloria Fawcett, 411 Rimer Hill Rd., Templeton, PA 16259 or to the Greater Pgh.
