Glenn Wiles Obituary

Glenn Eugene Wiles, 90, of Applewold, passed away Thursday, August 4, 2022 at home. He was born January 3, 1932 in Arnold, PA to the late Orval C. and Anna C. (Schottenheimer) Wiles. Glenn worked as a traffic manager for Schenley Distilleries for 30 years then as a dispatcher for Bauer Company until his retirement. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War on the USS St. Paul. He was a member of the Grace Presbyterian Church in Kittanning.

Glenn was an avid sports fan. He loved watching the Steelers and Pirates. A long time Kittanning Wildcat and Armstrong Riverhawks football fan. He also enjoyed high school and college wrestling. Glenn was active in the Lenape Little League and coached for many years.

Glenn was a patient, kind hearted, funny, loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather to his family and friends. He was a true testament to how one should live their life. We are all thankful for the time that we spent with him and all the memories that we will cherish forever. Glenn was a 1950 graduate of Kittanning High School and a caregiver for over 25 years for his beloved wife Shirley.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years Shirley (Adams) Wiles of Applewold; daughter Sheryl (Joe) Hutcheson of Leedy, OK; son Timothy (Kimberly) Wiles of Kittanning; daughter Kristeen (John) Kamer of Saxonburg; son Gregory Wiles of Kittanning; son in law Larry Pompelia of Rural Valley; grandson Cory Pompelia of Sarver; grandson Ethan ( Alexia) Pompelia of Yatesboro; granddaughter Amanda (Will) Buie of Leedy, OK; granddaughter Jessica Roark of Leedy, OK; granddaughter Allison Wiles of West Kittanning; grandson Timmy Wiles of Kittanning; granddaughter Christina Kamer of Virginia; grandson Stephen Kamer of Saxonburg; granddaughter Emma Kamer of Saxonburg; great granddaughters Cadence and Scarlett Pompelia of Yatesboro, Ellie Mae Buie of Leedy, OK,; great grandsons Lee and Luke Roark of Leedy, OK and J.W. Buie of Leedy, OK; numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Orval, Daniel, and James Wiles; sisters Ruby Adams, Opal Mauthe, Pearl Russ, Katherine Stockdill, and Shirley Campbell; daughter Brenda Pompelia.

Services are private and under the care of the Snyder-Crissman Funeral Home in Kittanning. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
