Heritha Mae (Scovill) Davis Obituary
Heritha Mae Scovill Davis (87) of Fenelton, PA, unexpectedly and peacefully passed away on October 4, 2024. Heritha (nicknamed “Pidge”) was born on September 18, 1937, to Marion and Frances Scovill in Napa, California.
In 1955, during her senior year of high school, Heritha met her future husband, Clyde, as they both were involved in the senior play. They began dating and got engaged at their senior prom and were married in October of that same year. They continued to have a happy and devoted marriage and were always each other’s very best friends. Then, in 1960, Heritha and Clyde were sealed for time and all eternity in the Los Angeles temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Heritha had many hobbies that varied from sewing, painting, jewelry making, cooking, music, Nascar, flower gardening, puzzles, and going to the beach to listen to the ocean waves.
She traveled extensively all across the United States with Clyde as they sold their handmade items in markets and enjoyed the sites and people while having many adventures.
In her adult life, Heritha was always creative and found ways to bring in additional income through her talents. She worked as a secretary, phone operator, and retail clerk. But her favorite role was working as a driver for her Amish community, driving friends and neighbors to their various activities while living in LaGrange, IN.
After retirement, Heritha and Clyde relocated to western Pennsylvania to live near their daughter and son-in-law, where she lived for the last 12 years of her life.
Heritha was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and faithfully served in many volunteer church roles. Her favorite was choosing and leading the hymns at church as chorister during worship services.
Heritha and Clyde had 3 children: Heather Marie, Carisa Marie, and Daryl Allan.
Heritha was predeceased by her husband, Clyde Davis, her daughter, Heather Marie, her father and mother, Marion and Frances Scovill, her brother, Gilbert Scovill, and her sister-in-law, Norma Scovill. She is survived by her daughter, Carisa (Richard) Barnett, son Daryl (Terri), her grandchildren, Andy Barnett, Justin (Justine) Barnett, Kristina (Chris) Carlsen, Alyssa (Mitch) Oakes, Amber (Chris) Ruiz, Nicholas (Allyson), Heather (Nick) Carr, Colton Barnett, Ryan (Sami), Charles Dyess, and JoAnna Dyess.
One of Heritha’s greatest joys was her 9 great-grandchildren, whom she loved, and she will be missed by them dearly.
Heritha and Clyde were always one another’s very best friends, and we, as a family, are at peace knowing that their marriage was eternal and that families are forever!
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2024 at 10AM in West Glade Run Presbyterian Cemetery in Kittanning, PA.
