Hugh James "Beno" Bonner, 82, of Worthington, passed away Thursday, Nov. 7, 2024, at home. He was born Oct. 12, 1942, in Ford City, to the late Hugh L. and Elizabeth M. Bonner. Hugh worked on a tug boat on the Allegheny River, for 5 Rubber and at Trader Horn. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. Hugh enjoyed fishing, reading and tinkering in the garage. He loved his dog Ben who passed away a few months ago. Hugh also collected Zippos and trains, and he loved seeing his grandchildren and always had candy for them.
He is survived by his daughters: Gigi Bonner, Amy Mundy, Bonnie Malone and Carol Cain; sons, Wade (Sherri) Shanholtz and Kevin Shanholtz; brother, Gary (Patricia) Bonner; sister, Susan McClafferty; grandchildren: Raquel Bonner, Joshua Toy, James Watterson, Zane Bonner, Will Mundy and Chris, Carol, Cory and Casey; 19 great-grandchildren; awesome neighbors, Kenny and Cindy; and caregivers, Frances, Candie and Kristy.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Amelia (Blondeaux) Bonner; wife, Betty (Mailki) Bonner; sister, Glenna Bowser; grandsons, Daniel Bonner and Tyler Watterson; daughter, Martha "Marti" Watterson; grandson, and Jonathan Blackburn.
Services for Hugh are private and under the care of the F. Duane Snyder Funeral Home in Worthington.
