Ida LaRue "Lou" (McQuillen) King

Ida LaRue "Lou" (McQuillen) King, 78, of Kittanning and Tavares, Florida, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 9, 2023 in Florida.  Lou was born in Clearfield County on September 27, 1945 to Thomas E. and Marjorie McQuillen. After being in foster care as a very young child until the age of 16, she found her forever home with the late Rick and Lillian Edwards who continued to raise her until they passed in their 90’s. She was tremendously blessed to have found her doting husband Thomas King in her forever mom’s family tree. She spent the last 25 happy years traveling and exploring with him. She is also survived by her loving brother Rich Edwards who was always there for her. She was grateful to have in her life her birth sister, Carol Greendoner and birth Uncle Jack (Mary Lou) McGinley and several nieces and a nephew. Lou was a born-again Christian and is enjoying felllowship with Jesus now.  She served not only her family faithfully but also her community in PA and FL when she graduated as a Registered Nurse at the age of 50. She enjoyed spending time with friends and neighbors, gardening and canning, flea marketing, and playing cards and Scrabble with her best friend, Deb Febinger.  

She is survived by her son, Robert F. (Valarie) Corle of Kittanning, her daughter, Cindy (Jim) Brumbaugh of Windermere, FL, and her son William Corle of DuBois who she had with her estranged late husband Robert F. Corle, Sr.  She loved her grandchildren Jamie, Jeff, Kyle, Ashalee, Zac, Aaron, Sarah, Carson, and Cullen. She spent her last weeks with her great grandchildren Colby, Liberty, Edith, Gwenyth and Harvey. She was also blessed with step children Tom and Jeff King and Sandy Mullins and their children Steve, Samantha, Sean, Kristie, Kelley, Max, and Jacob and their children.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her infant brother, James, and 3 sisters (Idella, Rhea Mae, and Phyllis) and her late husband James A. Grates, Sr.

Friends will be received from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2023 at the Snyder-Crissman Funeral Home, 200 S. McKean St., Kittanning, Pa. Additional visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, Nov. 16, from 10 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11 a.m. with Dr. Rev. Ronald G. Shafer officiating.  Interment will follow in McVille Union Cemetery.  Friends are invited to a luncheon at King's Family Restaurant in Kittanning following services.
