James Ronald “Flip” McAfoose, 76, of Kittanning, died on Saturday, March 30, 2024 at his residence. He was born March 30, 1948 in Kittanning to the late Eleanor Jane (Collar) and Raymond Nelson McAfoose, and was a lifelong resident of the community. James formerly worked at Dlubak Specialty Glass as a glass processor and as a fork lift operator at the Mushroom Mines. He was a U.S. Army Veteran (E-4), serving from 1969-1971 during the Vietnam War. He previously attended First Baptist Church in Kittanning and was a member of the Kittanning Men’s Club. James enjoyed watching sports, shooting pool, and spending time with family, friends and his beloved pets.
Survivors include his brother, Thomas (Bonnie) McAfoose, of Springville, Indiana; sister-in-law, Becky McAfoose, of Kittanning; brother-in-law, Michael (Susan) Cravener, of Tallahassee, Florida; son, Jim McAfoose, of Manorville, Pa.; granddaughters, Megan and Anastasia McAfoose; numerous nieces and nephews; and dear friend, Tracy Frazier. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Bruce Davis; brother, Bob McAfoose; first wife, Anna (Cravener) McAfoose, who died in 2010; and second wife, Patti (Miller) McAfoose, who died in 2023.
Per James’ wishes, no services are to be held at this time. Arrangements are entrusted to the Snyder-Crissman Funeral Home in Kittanning. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in James’ honor to Kittanning Men’s Club, 153 S. Jefferson St., Kittanning, Pa. 16201.
