James A. McGinnis, 74, of Ford City, died on Tuesday, Octobter 12, 2021 at Concordia Good Samaritan in Cabot, Pa. He was born November 7, 1946 at his family home in Rayburn Township, a son of Francis and Mildred McGinnis, and was a lifelong resident of the community. He was a retired Manor Township Supervisor. James was a U.S. Army veteran serving overseas during the Vietnam War. He loved driving his Slingshot and motorcycle. He also enjoyed working in his garage, working in the yard, playing with his dog, and lottery tickets.
James leaves behind to cherish his memory his mother, Mildred McGinnis, of Kittanning; wife, Della McGinnis, of Ford City; son, Steven McGinnis, of Kittanning; step son, Bruce Mangus, of Kittanning; sister, Peggy Waldenville, of Ford City; brothers, Ron (Sandy) McGinnis, of Kittanning, Don (Cheryl) McGinnis, of Kittanning, Jack (Beu) McGinnis, of Kittanning, Terry McGinnis, of Ford City, Paul (Stacey) McGinnis, of Kittanning, and Randy (Trish) McGinnis, of Kittanning; loving dog, Katie Ann; his good buddy, Tom Iseman, of Ford City; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Francis “Cuddy” McGinnis; two sisters, Vicky Lynn and Carol Shumaker; brother, Larry “Pete” McGinnis; and his favorite dog, Sophie.
Family and friends will received from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 17, 2021 at the Snyder-Crissman Funeral Home, 200 S. McKean St., Kittanning, PA. Additional visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday, Oct. 18, from 10 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in Ford City Cemetery.
