James A. Woodside, of Brick Church, Armstrong County, PA. Passed away on July 13, 2021. He was born on June 28, 1935 in Burrell Township, the son of Glenn R. and Mary Ethel (Huston) Woodside. Jim graduated from Ford City High School in 1953 and married his childhood sweetheart, Shirley I. Schaeffer on September 10, 1955. Jim operated heavy equipment for a number of years before working for West Penn Power, retiring from there in 1998 after 32 years of service.
His interests included family, fishing, and hunting in Potter County and the restoration of antique tractors.
He will be missed by his wife Shirley Woodside; two daughters Denise (Don) Elinski and Dana (Kevin) Morris of Fayetteville, PA; eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren; sisters Helen Kaufman and Fay (Fred) Umbaugh survive along with a brother Glenn (Dianna) Woodside.
He was a member of the Cochran Mills United Methodist Church where he served time as a board member and assisted in church maintenance.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son Daniel Woodside and Dan’s infant son; brothers Ralph, John, and Howard Woodside; sisters Ina Woodside Burkett and Mary Alice Woodside Schrecengost.
At Jim’s request there will be no viewing. A memorial service will be scheduled in the future at Cochran’s Mills Church. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Cochran’s Mill Methodist Cemetery where private burial with immediate family has taken place.
Arrangements are under the care of the Snyder-Crissman Funeral Home in Kittanning.
