Jerry E. Travis Obituary

Jerry E. Travis, 84, of Greensburg, PA passed away on November 15, 2024.  He was the first born child of Charles W. and Ellen (McGregor) Travis and was born on his grandfather's farm in Porter Township, Clarion County on April 5, 1940.  Jerry was a 1958 graduate of Redbank Valley High School.  Following high school, he served with the Second Marine Air Wing.  After his service for his country, he began his career with West Penn Power as an apprentice lineman at the Clarion Subcenter, retiring in 1996 at their General Office located in Cabin Hill, Greensburg, Pa.  After retirement Jerry continued to give to his country and community by volunteer work at the National Naval Aviation Museum located at Pensacola Naval Air Station in Pensacola, Fl., Toys for Tots of Westmoreland County and the Westmoreland Historical Society.  He also enjoyed golfing and traveling south for the winter where he and his wife were members of the Pennsylvania Snow Birds.  


His memory will be cherished by his wife, Connie L. (Platt) Travis, of Greensburg; daughter, Lisa D. Calhoun and husband, Greg, of Kittanning, Pa.; grandchildren, Erica C. Kirkpatrick and husband, Kyle, Evan G. Calhoun and Alecia M. Toy and husband, Dustin, all of Kittanning, Pa.; great-grandchildren, Emma J. Kirkpatrick, Landon K. Kirkpatrick and Leighton R. Toy.  He is also survived by his sister, Jacqueline Bowser, of Grove City and brothers, Charles Travis and wife, Judy, of Warren, Dennis Travis and wife, Karen, of Apollo and Rodger Travis and wife, Mary Ann, of New Bethlehem; sisters-in-law, Nancy Chodorow and husband, James, of Ohio, Kay Platt, of Michigan and Marlene Platt, of Shippenville, Pa.  In addition, Jerry is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Jack Bowser; sister, Marilyn Huber and husband Joseph; sister-in-law, Marlus Platt; and brothers-in-law, Donald and Keith Platt.


Private graveside services and interment will be held at the Squirrel Hill Cemetery in Porter Township, Clarion County.  Arrangements are under the care of the Snyder-Crissman Funeral Home, Inc. in Kittanning, Pa.
