Joan Cecelia (Fischer) Blechschmidt, 92, of Worthington, passed away Tuesday March 11, 2025 at Quality Life Services-Sugarcreek. She was born October 3, 1932 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Anton and Anna Fischer.
Joan was of the Roman Catholic Faith.
Joan had a beautiful voice and was involved with church choirs and Pittsburgh Savoyards. One of her proudest moments was singing during a Papal audience in Rome. Joan "retired" from nursing to be a full-time mother to four. She was a gifted artist who brought beauty to the world through her sculptures and seamstress skills. Joan adored her family and was deeply loved and cherished. She gifted everyone she met with her welcoming smile and open heart.
She is survived by her daughter Laura (Scott) Yarosh of Parma, OH; son Hugh (Joyce) Blechschmidt of Pensacola, FL; daughter Anne Gibbs of Rural Valley; daughter Amy (Bob) Hribal of Moon Township, PA; grandchildren Thomas, Christian, Jasmine, Chantal, Jean-Maurice, Bradley, and Mikayla; 10 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents Anton and Anna Fischer; husband Thomas Blechschmidt; brother Donald Fischer.
Joan's family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to all the staff at Quality Life Services-Sugarcreek and Three Rivers Hospice who provided excellent care and an abundance of love, dignity, and compassion throughout her care.
Friends will be received on Friday March 21, 2025 at the Kennedy & Blodgett Funeral Home in Kittanning from 1:00 P.M. until of a Funeral Service at 3:00 P.M. with Father Juanito G. Lozano as Celebrant.
