Joanne (Coulter) Snyder

Joanne (Coulter) Snyder, 89, of Cowansville, died Thursday November 4, 2021. She was born on March 20, 1932 in Girty, PA to the late Evelyn (Girt) and Virgil Coulter. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Russell E. Snyder and her children Dwight (Deborah) Snyder, Celeste Ehrhardt, Shelley (Steve) Cook and Andrea (David) McPherson. She loved her three grandchildren Laura (Scott) Haslett, Brandon Ehrhardt, and Amanda Ehrhardt and two great grandchildren Ethan and Spencer Kepple. She was preceded in death by her siblings Virginia, Paul, Lloyd, Luella, and Dale) her parents; and her son in law Edward Ehrhardt. Her brother Paul (Christina) Turner survives her. 

Joanne graduated 14th in the class of 1950 from Ford City High School. She worked for the Armstrong School District from 1972 until her retirement in 1993. she started in the Curriculum Center and went on to be the secretary of both Kittanning Junior High and Senior High. 

She was a member of Union First Presbyterian Church of Cowansville for almost 70 years and was very involved in the life of the church, particularly in supporting mission causes. She loved to square dance which she enjoyed all her life, to travel with her husband all over the world, to read, and to complete beautiful works of embroidery. She loved to spend time with her family and gave the best hugs ever. She was also known for having a freezer full of delicious cookies. 

Joanne lived the last year of her life at Heritage Meadows, where the staff became quite attached to her and took excellent care of her. 

There will be visitation on Sunday, November 7, 2021 at the Snyder-Crissman Funeral Home in Cowansville from 6:00 to 9:00 pm. A funeral service will be held on Monday, November 8, 2021 at 11:00 am at Union First Presbyterian Church in Cowansville with additional visitation from 10:00 am until the time of the service with Rev. Diane Flynn officiating.  Interment will be in the Union First Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Cowansville.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Joanne’s honor to the Union First Presbyterian Church of the American Heart Association.
