John Henry Hood Jr.

     John Henry Hood Jr., 77, of Worthington, passed away on Monday, February 1, 2021 at UPMC Shadyside in Pittsburgh.  He was born June 4, 1943 in Pittsburgh, Pa to the late John and Florence (Patterson) Hood and lived in the area for the past 12 years.  He graduated from Carrick High School in Pittsburgh, Pa, received his college degree from Geneva College and Master's Degree from Duquesne University.  John married his beloved wife, Mary Elizabeth, on August 24, 1963.  He was a retired Ironworker from Local #3 and Grove City Water Treatment Plant Operator and also served as Executive Director of PRWA.  He attended Worthington Presbyterian Church.  His hobbies included hunting, fishing, bible studies and church activities.  John also enjoy all things football, and going to the movies.  He loved life and he loved people.  

     Left behind to cherish his memory includes his beloved wife of 57 years, Mary Elizabeth Hood, of Worthington, PA; daughters, Kimberly (Ronald) Risch, of Worthington, PA and Sheri (Jack) Sipila, of Bremerton, WA; son, James (Holly) Hood, of Jackson Center, PA; grandchildren, Ryan Risch, of Worthington, PA, Keith Risch (fiancé, Hannah Walleck) of Kittanning, PA, Kelly Risch, of Mt. Washington, PA, Madison Hood, of Greentree, PA, and MaKenna Hood, of Jackson Center, PA; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, William and Walter Hood; and infant grandson, Jakob Hood.

     Friends will be received from 10 a.m to 11 a.m. with a Memorial Service to immediately follow at 11 a.m. on Saturday. Feb. 27, 2021 at Worthington Presbyterian Church with Rev. Robert Hindman officiating.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in John's honor to the Worthington Presbyterian Church "Local Mission's Fund".
