Joseph Nicholas Bowser, 87, of Worthington, Pa. passed away on Monday, Dec. 8, 2025 at his home. He was born December 7, 1938 in Kittanning, the son of the late Corbin and Anne Bowser, and was a lifelong resident of Armstrong County. He was a Kittanning Senior High School graduate, class of 1957. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, serving from 1957-1960. He was a retired warehouseman, working in East Butler, Pa. He attended True Hope Community Church, a Global Methodist Congretation. Joseph previously served in the Worthington Lions Club for 20 years, was active in the church for various roles, and served as chairman of the Worthington Sesquicentenial Celebration. He was an avid reader, especially on the subjects of history and the Civil War, and was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pittsburgh Pirates. Joe also enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles. He was a proud grandfather who always enjoyed his time with family.
Left behind to forever cherish his memory includes his wife of 59 years, Bonnie K. Bowser; daughter, Kimberly (John) Yankasky, of Ford City; granddaughters, whom he especially enjoyed spending time with, Abby and Ashley Yankasky, of Ford City; brothers, Corbin Bowser, of Kittanning and Robert (Flo) Bowser, of Kittanning; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Joseph was preceded in death by his brother, William Bowser, and sister-in-law, Linda Ford Bowser; niece, Saundra Bowser Anthony; and great-nephew, Larry Cornman.
Friends will be received from 2-4 p.m. & 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 11, 2025 at KENNEDY & BLODGETT FUNERAL HOME, 253 N. Grant Ave., Kittanning, Pa. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Friday, Dec. 12, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Brad Hellein and Pastor Mike Bowser officiating, with an additional hour of visitation prior to the service. Interment will be in Worthington Presbyterian Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Joseph's honor to True Hope Community Church, 150 E. Brady Rd., Kittanning, PA 16201.
