Joseph Glenn Reed, age 97, died peacefully at home on 2/28/2025. Born September 1, 1927, in Clarion County, Pa., son of Walter (Tase) and Ella Carberry Reed. He is survived by six children. Nancy (James) Nelson of Harrisburg, David of Dayton, Beverly DeMatteis of St Mary’s, Michael (Jill) Reed of Dayton, Libby Schafer of Ridgway and Ronald Reed of Templeton.
Preceded in death his loving wife of 73 years, Doris, daughter Penny Pingley, 3 brothers, (Jim, Tom, and Ed), 2 sisters (Helen and Bernice), Grandson (Philip Reed), and son in laws Robert Pingley and Domenic DeMatteis. He is also survived by brothers, Paul (Elsie) of Ohio, Robert (Linda) of Tidioute, Pa. He has 7 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren.
Joe served in the Army Air Corps from 1945-1948 during campaigns in both Africa and Europe. He worked at Harbison-Walker Refractories from 1950-1989 as a salaried employee.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, walking 3-4 miles a day and occasionally tipping a few beers with his friends at the Kittanning Eagles, Kittanning Men’s Club and Ford City VFW.
He will be missed by his family and friends and by all who benefited from his caring and generosity.
There will be no services at his request.
