Juanita L. (Claypoole) Dickey, 97 of Freeport formerly of Walkchalk, passed away Thursday March 23, 2023 at home surrounded by her family. She was born December 24, 1925 in Worthington to the late Chambers H. and Edith B. (Snyder) Claypoole.
Juanita was an English and Reading tutor for the Armstrong School District, a bookkeeper for Montgomery Wards, and worked for Willys Jeep in Butler during World War 2.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Kittanning and previously was a member of the Franklin Union Baptist Church in Worthington where she was very involved as a Sunday School teacher and leader of the Youth Fellowship. She sang in both church choirs and performed solos at many church functions.
Juanita loved spending time with and taking care of her family and comforting friends in illness.
She is survived by her son Dennis “Denny” Dickey and his wife Deborah “Deb” Dickey of Boiling Springs, PA; companion of 9 years William McCullough of Freeport, PA; two grandsons Christopher Dickey and his wife Taryn of Plymouth, MA and Bradley Dickey and his wife Heather of Cooksville, MD; great grandchildren Charlotte and Juliette Dickey of Plymouth, MA and Briar Lily Dickey of Cooksville, MD; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Joseph H. Dickey; son H. Bruce Dickey; 10 siblings - Infant sibling,Clarence, Carl, Genevieve, Marie, Roy, Randall, June, Lloyd, and Chambers.
Friends will be received on Friday March 31, 2023 at the Snyder-Crissman Funeral Home in Kittanning from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. A funeral service will be held on Saturday April 1, 2023 at the First Baptist Church in Kittanning at 11:00 am with Rev. Mark Brady officiating, additional visitation will be held at the church from 10:00 am until the time of the service. Interment is in Lawn Haven Burial Estates in Worthington.
