Julie Kersul Obituary

Julie Ann (Sallustio) Kersul, age 96, of Worthington, PA passed away peacefully into the hands of our Lord on Sunday, March 12, 2023. Julie was born Sept. 13, 1926 to Joseph and Frances (Denardo) Sallustio. Julie has rejoined her husband, Frank, her parents and brothers, Arthur and Patsy that have passed before her.

Julie was very active in the community, either working or volunteering for most of her life. During her lifetime she managed the Diner on Waterstreet in Kittanning for many years, then opened the Corner Cupboard Restaurant in Worthington. She ended her working career working for the Community Action Network, doing outreach and ensuring that family’s received the assistance they deserved.

Julie worked as a volunteer and belonged to many organizations that support the community. She belonged to the Worthington-West Franklin Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary, Ford City Women’s Auxiliary, Lady Rebecca Lodge in Craigsville and in conjunction with her husband and several other couples, established the Worthington American Legion. Julie also spent over 25 years as a volunteer at the Armstrong County Memorial Hospital.

Julie will be remembered by her son, Frank Kersul (Kathy Armstrong) of Olympia, Washington and her daughter and son-in-law, Rosemary and Ralph White, of Worthington. Also surviving are grandchildren, Stephen Waratuke (Cecily), Jeffrey Waratuke (Jennifer) and Samantha Kersul (Alex Hur).

With greatest love she will also be remembered by her great-grandchildren, Kameron Kersul, Emma Rose, Juliet, Kenneth Waratuke and Tyler Waratuke.

The family would like to thank all the staff of Sugar Creek Rest for their kindness and tireless care and support. They continually showed compassion, patience and respect over the many years of Julie’s stay.

Family and friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Friday, March 17, 2023, at the F.
