Katharine Marie Bell

Katharine Marie (Haj) Bell, 83, of Kittanning, passed away Thursday, August 21, 2025 at ACMH Hospital with her sons at her side.  She was born April 24, 1942 in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of the late Isaac J. And Mary A. (Esola) Haj.  She was a lifelong resident of the community and prior to her retirement, worked as a teller, baker clerk, election official and homemaker.  She was a member of St. Mary, Our Lady of Guadalupe Roman Catholic Church in Kittanning, serving as a CCD teacher.  She was an avid reader, a Pittsburgh sports fan and an excellent cook and baker. She loved animals, especially her beloved Pit Bulls.  She also enjoyed walking and spending time with her loving family.  Our mom put the needs of others before herself.  She had kind words for all.  Her family was the center of her world.  Mom loved more than words can describe.  She was always ready for dining at a new restaurant or having breakfast out.  She cherished the many friends she had.  Mom was an avid movie fan and loved watching movies, especially on the holidays.  She courageously battled a multitude of health issues following a stroke.  Mom fought hard and made it home for six weeks before the last illness took her life.  

She leaves behind to forever cherish her memory: her husband, John J. Bell, of Kittanning; sons, Eric J. Bell and Kirk J. Bell, of Kittanning; brother, Joe I. Haj, of Slate Lick; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Vonda M. Bell and Ron D. Bell, of Yatesboro; and nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, Kay was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Anthony Bell; and sisters-in-law, Mary Ann Bell, Margaret Bell and Virginia Connor. 

Due to health issues, visitation and funeral services will be privately held by the family at the Snyder-Crissman Funeral Home in Kittanning, PA.  Interment will be in Kittanning Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Kay's honor to Orphans of the Storm, P.O. Box 838, Kittanning, PA 16201.
