Kathy I. Keagle, 78, of Kittanning, died Wednesday, May 24, 2023, in Armstrong County Memorial Hospital. She was born on January 24, 1945, in Cleveland, OH to Todd G. Keagle and Mildred L. (Huntington) Keagle-Mechling. After the death of Todd Keagle at a young age, Mildred married Charles Mechling, who raised Kathy as his own. Kathy was a long-time employee of Armstrong County Memorial Hospital, working in various departments. She also worked part-time at Kings Bowling Lanes. Kathy was a member of St. Luke’s United Church of Christ in Kittanning. She was a beneficial member of the CU Club and various bowling leagues. Kathy spent many years instructing and organizing youth bowling for King Bowling Lanes Jr-Sr leagues, where she had a great joy mentoring youth bowlers. Kathy’s favorite pastime was spending her day at the Allegheny River with family and friends.
Kathy is survived by her brother, Thomas (Sharon) Mechling and long-time friend and sister in-law, Lee Keagle. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews that she treated like they were her own children: Tammie Carerun (Tye), Becki Baillie (Bruce), Todd Keagle, David Keagle, Andrea Wolfe (John), Abbie Goss (Glenn), and next generation: Maddie and Nate Baillie, Dre and Cameron Wolfe, and Charlotte Goss. She truly enjoyed spending time watching all these kids in their activities and growing into adults. They will miss her dearly. She is also survived by many other nieces and nephews. Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, Todd Keagle, Mildred Keagle-Mechling and Charles Mechling; her brothers, Timothy Keagle, Charles Mechling and James Mechling. A thank you is extended to ACMH Staff, VNA Hospice and Tara Mechling for their excellent care of Kathy during this time.
Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, in the Snyder-Crissman Funeral Home, 200 S. McKean St., Kittanning, Pa., from 5-8 p.m. Additional viewing will take place in the funeral home on Thursday, June 1, 2023, from 9 a.m. until time of funeral services at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Edward Walters officiating. Burial will follow in Lawn Haven Burial Estates. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Kathy’s name to the Armstrong River Hawks Bowling Team, 141 Lakeview Road, Ford City, PA 16226.
