It is with great sadness that the family of Kay Cousins, 87, of Templeton announce her passing Friday, April 18th in her home. She was born June 6, 1937 in the Village of Mahoning, a daughter of the late Alvie and Peg Armstrong.
Kay attended Templeton Elementary School and then graduated from Kittanning Senior High School in 1955. Upon graduation, she became a secretary for Eljer Corporation. That same year she met the love of her life William "Bud" Cousins of Templeton. They married in 1956 and they had five children over the next 17 years.
She held various jobs after the birth of her first 3 children, including cleaning lady, seamstress in a sewing factory, homemaker, and eventually becoming a rural postal carrier at the age of 40. She dedicated 20 years to the United States Postal System.
Kay was a long time member of Sloan Hill Community Church.
She enjoyed traveling, interior decorating, shopping, baking, floral arranging, sewing, taking walks, painting, and camping. Upon her retirement in 1999, she and Bud started traveling and ended up buying a mobile home in Ocala, Florida where they spent many happy years.
