Leroy Merlen "Mac" Baker, 86, of Ford City, passed away on Friday, Aug. 8, 2025. He was born September 22, 1938 in Armstrong County, the son of the late Floyd M. Baker and Sarah M. (Schrecengost) Baker. He was a Union Carpenter with Local No. 432. He was a member of Rockville Lutheran Church. Leroy was a founding member of Kittanning Twp. Volunteer Fire Department (1966). He was also a member of Masonic Lodge 805 since 1966, New Castle Consistory since 1970 and Kittanning Twp. Rec Authority since 2000. He enjoyed wood-working projects for the family, attending his grandkid's events, trips to the casino and helping at the greenhouse.
Survivors include his wife, whom he married in 1969, Nancy L. (Stitt) Baker; daughters, Tammy (Jamie) Baum, of Kittanning, Kimberly (Mike) Gearhart, of Dawsonville, GA and Shelby (JD) Dubes, on Logansport, IN; grandchildren, Devin (Riley) Gearhart, of Dawsonville, GA, Erin Gearhart, of Helena, AL; Carson and Josie Dubes, of Logansport, IN, and Kayden Baum and DJ Frum, of Kittanning; great-granddaughters, Blake and Charlie Gearhart; sisters, Nancy (John) Krofchik and Bonnie (Doug) Gamble; step-sister, Doris Grafton; sisters-in-law, Barb (Bill) Busch, Rosemarie (Bill) Brown and Susan (Greg) Shaw; and numerous nieces and nephews. Leroy was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd M. Baker (1913-2003) and Sarah M. Baker (1919-1964); his step-mother, Alora (Schaeffer) Baker; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bob and Amy Stitt; sister, Elaine (Albert) Graham; step-brother, George Schaeffer; step-sister, Shirley Woodside; and brothers-in-law, Albert Graham, Roger Gamble and Gary Busch.
Family and friends will be received on Monday, Aug. 11, 2025 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the Snyder-Crissman Funeral Home, 200 S. McKean St., Kittanning, PA. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, Aug. 12 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Arlene Schweitzer officiating, with an additional hour of visitation prior to the service. Interment will be in United Rockville Lutheran Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Leroy Baker's honor to Kittanning Township Volunteer Fire Dept., 13126 US Rt. 422, Kittanning, PA 16201.
