Loretta Joan (Bonetti) George, 84, of Kittanning, passed away Monday January 6, 2025 at Butler Memorial Hospital. She was born August 29, 1940 in Nanticoke, PA in the county of Luzerne to the late August and Mae Bonetti.
Joan moved to the area in 1955 at the age of 15 and graduated from Ford City High in 1958. She married Bobby Ray George on March 21, 1959 and lived in Kittanning, spending 23 years during the winter in Florida. Four years after their marriage, their first daughter Lisa Rae was born on May 1, 1963, their second daughter Molly Ann was born February 19, 1967, and third daughter Betsy Lynn was born June 1, 1971.
Joan was a beautician and operated the Joan George Beauty Salon for 40 years. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Kittanning, where she was an active member.
She loved to crochet, bake, paint, garden her flowers and berries, travel especially to the National Parks. She enjoyed hiking, cross country skiing, snowmobiling, and spending time with family.
Joan is survived by her husband Bobby Ray George of Kittanning; daughters Lisa of Colorado, Molly and her husband Dean and her children Spencer, Wyatt, and Lillian of Maryland, and Betsy and her children Ava, Odin, and Ansel of Kittanning.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother August Bonetti and Mae Bonetti; step father Joe Ferkan; sister Rita Webster; her loving in laws Lois Mae and Herman Augustus George; sister in law Patty Gary and her husband John; her dear friend and husbands aunt Alice Mae Sampson; brother in law Duane George.
Friends will be received on Saturday January 25, 2025 at St. John’s Lutheran Church at 218 North Jefferson Street in Kittanning for a gathering with family and friends to share memories along with photos and videos from 10:00 A.M. until the time of a memorial service at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Carl A. Johnson officiating.
