Louella Butler Snyder, 90, of Kittanning, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, June 21, 2021. She was born in Kittanning, PA on August 19. 1930 to the late Walter W. and Jessie L. (Turney) Butler. Lou graduated from Kittanning High School in 1948. She was a court stenographer until her marriage to Charles H. Snyder, Jr. in 1949, her husband of nearly 70 years. She was a member of the Union First Presbyterian Church of Cowansville where she served in many capacities for over seven decades. She was an active member of multiple community organizations. Lou was an immaculate homemaker and love to entertain. She was a devoted wife, caring mother, and a cherished friend. She was proceeded in death by her husband Charles H. Snyder, Jr.; brothers Walter, Louis and James; sisters Eleanor Hill, Jean McGann, and Shirley Vause; son-in-law Richard L. Smith; and daughter-in-law Barbara A. (Baker) Snyder. She is survived by three children: Dennis C. (Kathy Veronesi) Snyder, Richard G. Snyder, and Sally A. Snyder, all of Kittanning; five grandchildren: Elizabeth (Peter) Kimmel, Meghan (Jonathan) Kolbe, Charles, Clayton and Cameron Smith; and six great-grandsons. Family and friends will be welcomed to an informal memorial gathering at the Snyder Ranch, 949 State Route 268, Cowansville, PA, on Saturday, June 26, 2021 between 2pm and 5pm. Lou requested we "make this a celebration of happy times remembered". In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations are made the the Eye and Ear Foundation, Inc., Snyder Lab, 203 Lothrop Street, Suite 251, Pittsburgh, PA 15213 or Union First Presbyterian Church Cemetery Association, PO Box 217, Cowansville, PA 16218. Private internment was at the Union First Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Cowansville. Arrangements were entrusted to the Snyder- Crissman Funeral Home.
