Louis Shrader Beers, 77, of Kittanning, passed away Saturday August 31, 2024 at ACMH Hospital. He was born March 30, 1947 in Kittanning to the late Louis Beers and was raised by his late grandmother Blanche Moorehead.
Louis was a lifelong resident of the area and worked as a Caster at Eljer for 42 years, after Eljer he worked for the Armstrong School District as a custodian for 15 years. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1965-1967, proudly serving aboard the USS Galveston during the Vietnam War. Louis was a member of the Kittanning Church of God. He enjoyed biking, reading, history, and spending time with family and three dogs.
Louis is survived by his wife of 56 years Carolyn Jean (Cravener) Beers of Kittanning; two daughters Michele "Shellie" Younkins and husband Stephen of Ford City and Jill Beers of Kittanning; special niece Kim (Lasher) Crawford of Kittanning; special nephew Edward Lasher of Ford City; grandkids Adam Younkins and Abigail Younkins both of Vandergrift; great-grandkids Kayden, Tayler, Aleah, Jaxton; sister Freida Bowser of Webster, NY; sister-in-laws Patty Hulse, Julie Hiller, Mary Ann Kunkle, and Jackie Zubik; brothers-in-law, Frank Garmong and Ernie Zubik; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father Louis Beers; grandmother Blanche Moorehead; sisters Rosetta Myers, Lois Beck, Georgie Ann Garmong, and Shirley Titus; father in law and mother in law Mark and Carolyn Pearl Cravener.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held for Louis at a later date.
