LuAnn Cloak Obituary

LuAnn (Slagle) Cloak, 62, of Templeton, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on May 15, 2024. She was born in Kittanning, PA, on August 24, 1961, to Earl and Dolores (Fox) Slagle. Suddenly and tragically, in May of 2022, LuAnn suffered a hemorrhagic stroke that she was never able to recover from. Surrounded by her family, LuAnn took her last breath here on earth and walked through the gates of glory, healed and restored, to be reunited with her loved ones who passed before her and spend eternity with Jesus Christ. LuAnn leaves behind, to cherish her memory, her loving husband of 41 years, Randy, her daughters, Kelly (Bradley) Craft of Youngsville, NC, and Julie (Philip) Parks of Dayton, her mother, Dolores (Fox) Slagle of Templeton, and her brother Earl (Lisa) Slagle, Jr. of Templeton. LuAnn will also be missed by her Aunt and Uncle, Homer and Ada Fox of Templeton, and their children, Dana (Paula) Fox, Aaron (Sharon) Fox, and Jeremiah (Pam) Fox, whom she loved like brothers, along with their children, her sisters-in-law, Jean, Janet, and Kathy, her five nieces, along with many great nieces and nephews, loving relatives and friends, Rich and Linda Wingard, Barry and Debbie Dinger, Jackie and Dave Baum, and too many other friends and family members to name. In addition, she is survived by her pride and joys, whom she prayed for, lived for, loved to no end, and with whom she did not get to spend nearly enough time with here on earth, her grandsons, Luke Craft and Paxton Parks.

LuAnn was a faithful member of the Templeton United Methodist Church where she taught and played the piano for Sunday School. She was a registered nurse for over 40 years and worked in the operating room at ACMH, a job that she loved and at which made many close friends. LuAnn was known for her fun personality, always up for a shopping trip, yard sales, or going to camp, singing songs aloud, especially country music, hymns, and Christmas music all year round. She loved to travel and lay on the beach, or just in the sun in general. She was also an avid reader of romance and mystery novels as well as her Bible, loved to play cards, dance, and drive her girlfriends and sisters-in-law around to holiday craft festivals. LuAnn also loved to cook and bake; among others, her sugar cookies, caramel tassies, nuthorns, strawberry pie, soups, and Devonshire spaghetti will be missed, and no one will be able to make them like she did.  Above all, she loved to be with her family, especially her children and grandsons, doing anything, everything, and nothing at all; she cherished each second with them, singing to them, playing with them, and praying for them. LuAnn will be remembered as a woman who put God first, shared His love, helped anyone in need, and loved her family and friends more than imaginable. She would want all those around her to accept Jesus as their Savior so that she can see them again in Heaven some day.

LuAnn was preceded in death by her father, Earl James Slagle, Sr., her grandparents, two brothers-in-law, Terry and Ron Cloak, her mother-in-law, Viola Cloak, and her father-in-law, whom she never got to meet here on earth, Howard Cloak.

Friends and family will be received at the Snyder-Crissman Funeral Home in Kittanning, PA, on Friday, May 17th from 4 to 8 p.m. Additional visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, May 18th, beginning at 2 p.m. followed by funeral service at 4 p.m with Pastor Craig Lindahl officiating.  Interment will follow at Mount Zion Presbyterian Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Templeton Community Church.
