MIchael LaFisca Obituary

Michael LaFisca, 96, of Worthington, passed away Friday, February 12, 2021 at his home with his faithful dog, Pebbles, by his side.  He was born January 11, 1925 in Dunbar, PA to the late Liborio and Liboria (Raymondi) LaFisca.  Michael retired from West Penn Power’s Reesedale power station with 45 years of service.  He was a member of the First Church of God in Kittanning, a member of the Worthington Legion Post 828, and a veteran of the U.S. Army.  He had many talents including carpentry, plumbing, and electrical skills.  He especially loved woodworking, collecting coins and stamps, and looked forward to the crossword puzzle in the local newspaper.  Camping and gardening were also hobbies he enjoyed.

Michael was a loving husband, father, and pap.  He is survived by his children, Michael LaFisca (Fay), of Shreveport, LA, William LaFisca (Becky), of Butler, Joyce Schrecengost (Jay), of Kittanning, and Marcia Jackson (Dave), of Kittanning; 13 grandchildren; 24 (and within days to be 25) great-grandchildren; and his first great-great-grandchild to be born next month.  His favorite saying to us all was “I love you a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck.”  Dad was living proof that “dogs are not our whole life, but they make our lives whole.” Pebbles came at a time to help fill the void in our dad’s heart and now he will be joined in heaven with his forever valentine and beloved wife of 70 years, Ruth LaFisca, who passed away September 2014.  Also preceding him in death are his 4 brothers, 5 sisters, and 1 grandchild.

Funeral services will be privately held by the family with Pastor Nick Wilson and Pastor Melissa Daniels co-officiating.  Military honor guard services will also be conducted, followed by burial at Lawn Haven Burial Estates in Worthington.  Arrangements are under the care of the F. Duane Snyder Funeral Home in Worthington.
