Mabel M. McNutt, 95, of Kittanning, died Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014, at Good Samaritan Hospice in Cabot. She was born April 25, 1918, East Franklin Township, a daughter of the late Charles and Nora (Minter) Patton. She was longtime member of Salem Baptist Church in Walk Chalk where she was a member of American Baptist Women and former deaconess. Every fall the church makes apple butter and Mabel always did the stirring. She enjoyed needlepoint and embroidering and helping with Meals on Wheels. She loved her church and her family. Survivors include her daughters, Sally Marshall, of Kittanning, and Susan Helmick and husband, Jim, of Carencro, La.; grandchildren, Kim Shipman, James Helmick Jr. (Linda), David Helmick (Lisa), Robert Helmick (Kim) and Jim Marshall; nine great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James McNutt, in 1974; six sisters, Bernice Dimit, Greta Storey, Vera "Peg" Neigh, Lucille Stewart, Florence Consla and Betty Addicott; and son-in-law, Robert Marshall. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Snyder-Crissman Funeral Home in Cowansville, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Edward Walters officiating. Interment in Sherrett Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Good Samaritan Hospice, Cabot Inpatient Unit, 134 Marwood Road, Cabot, PA 16023.
