Margaret L. (Alexander) Mitchell

Margaret L. (Alexander) Mitchell, 78, of Kittanning, died Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2018, at UPMC Passavant Hospital.

She was born Sept. 3, 1940, in Armstrong County to the late Lloyd E. and Nancy J. (Toy) Alexander. Margaret lived in Boston, Massachusetts for more than 40 years before moving back home to Pennsylvania for the last 13 years. She was a retired home health aid and a Christian.

Always smiling and upbeat, Margie was a friend to everyone. Many will remember her speeding around town on her scooter, stopping at her favorite stores. She collected all things “piggy”, both decorative and edible. She honored her Irish ancestry, and would like to be remembered as a patriotic Democrat.

Margaret is survived by her four sisters — Kay Serian, of Akron, Ohio, Arlene (Loran) Scholl of Adrian, Nancy Passarelli, of Butler, and Betsy Garmong, of Ford City, and a number of beloved nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband,

Dewey Mitchell; sister, Amanda Mauthe; brothers-inlaw, Brad Mauthe, Joe Serian, Gordon Garmong, and Ron Passarelli; and good friend Edward Porter.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2018, at 5 p.m. at Snyder Crissman Funeral Home in Kittanning, with Rev. Mark Brady officiating.
