Margaret LaVelle "Sis" (Olinger) Smith, 96, of West Kittanning, died Sunday, Aug. 31, 2008, at her residence. She was born Sept. 8, 1911, in Wayne Township, Armstrong County, to the late William Robert and Hannah Matilda (Schrecengost) Olinger. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church of Ford City. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harry W. Smith, in 1972; brothers, William Wade Olinger, Blair Kiel Olinger, George Burton Olinger and Miles Delphin Olinger; stepson, Jack F. Smith, and stepgrandson, Robert Smith, both formerly of Trenton, N.J. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Louis (Shelva Olinger) Corna, of Hyde Park, and Mrs. Ronald (Nelda Smith) Aites, of West Kittanning; a stepdaughter, Doretha Smith, of California; six grandchildren, Marc (Lisa) Corna, of Hyde Park, John (Michelle) Corna, of Hyde Park, Michael (Carmen) Corna, of Mars, Gregory (Teena) Aites, of Harrisville, Kenneth (Corina) Aites, of Elkhart, Ind., and Michelle (Gregory) Steele, of Harrisville; 10 great-grandchildren, Alexandra and Madison Corna, of Hyde Park, Amanda, Hunter and Alison Corna, of Mars, Zane Cox, Devon and Jacob Aites, of Kittanning, and Micaela and Jared Aites, of Elkhart, Ind.; a stepgranddaughter, Lynda Smith, of Trenton, N.J.; three stepgreat-grandchildren, Cye Smith, Jared Butler and Tiffany Smith; and several nieces and nephews. Friends are being received from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at SNYDER-CRISSMAN FUNERAL HOME, 200 S. McKean St., Kittanning. There will be additional visitation from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home with her pastor, the Rev. James Vincent, of First Baptist Church in Ford City, officiating. Interment in Eddyville Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Memorial Fund at First Baptist Church in Ford City or the Child Evangelism Fellowship at CEF of Armstrong-Indiana Counties, P.O. Box 403, Indiana, PA 15701-0403.
