Mark Allen Klingensmith Obituary

Mark Allen Klingensmith, age 69, of Ford City, PA, passed away on June 18, 2025 at his residence.  After graduating from Kittanning high school in 1974, he proudly served in the U.S. Army before moving to Louisiana, where he worked for 35 years in the salt mine in Cote Blanche. Known for his strong work ethic and generous heart, he made a lasting impression on those around him both on and off the job.  He was an incredible father and grandfather, that has a special bond with his grandchildren who adored him deeply. Always quick with a witty remark, he had a sharp sense of humor and was never afraid to play the smart ass, (a trait his family cherished and he passed along to the next generations).

A true MacGyver, Mark had a knack for fixing just about anything. Whether it was a broken appliance, a car issue, or something completely random, if it needed fixing, he’d figure it out, using whatever tools happened to be nearby.  Upon retirement, he returned to his beloved Pennsylvania, where he enjoyed the simple pleasures of life: a great cup of coffee, watching game shows, cheering on the Pittsburgh Steelers, and cooking meals that blended Northern comfort with Cajun flair, (a skill he picked up during his time in Louisiana).

He was the kind of man who would go out of his way to help a friend, neighbor, or stranger, without hesitation. Humble to the core, he never wanted anyone to make a fuss over him, though there was always plenty to admire. And in what might be one of his proudest and most unexpected titles, he was the undisputed family champion of Guitar Hero, famously mastering “Through the Fire and Flames” like a true rockstar. Mark’s legacy is one of kindness, laughter, love, and fierce loyalty.

Mark was born on February 25, 1956 in Kittanning, PA to Fred Lindy Klingensmith & Alice Marie Klingensmith. He is survived by: daughters Amy Edler & husband Blake, and Caryn Benoit & husband Jason. One brother Terry Klingensmith. 7 grandchildren: Kayla Dore (Landon), Kelsey Lorraine (Raul), Gracie Mason (Marek), Tyler Benoit (Alaina), Corgan Edler (Hallie), Riley Edler, & Jackson Edler. As well as five great-grandchildren.  Mark was preceded in death by his father Fred Lindy Klingensmith, mother Alice Marie Klingensmith, wife of 37 years Sandra Klingensmith, and brother Darryl Klingensmith.
